The gardens are spread out over several acres with a large bed of perennials and specimen trees adjoining one section of the railroad. My wife, Jan, was responsible for designing and planting all the beds to make her dream come true. Jan chose the name Papillon for hear love of butterflies, as demonstrated by numerous and varied butterfly bush plantings, and our four beloved dogs of the Papillon breed.
There are over fifty varieties of
trees planted throughout
the property and railroad for Jan’s love of trees. Each
variety has at least
two or three specimens. Additionally, she has planted at least four
varieties
of bamboo which thrive in northeast
